If an event, like a goal or a shot, shows the wrong player, it's usually because Veo AI matched it to an incorrect jersey number. This guide explains why that happens and walks you through reassigning the correct player to an event.
Requirements
- You need to be a team Editor or admin to edit match events
- This applies to soccer/football recordings only
Why this happens
Veo AI detects players mainly from the jersey numbers visible in your footage. If a number is misread, or if players haven't been linked to their jersey numbers in your Lineup, an event can end up tagged with the wrong player.
How to fix it
- Open the Events panel from the side menu
- Find the event with the incorrect player and click the arrow icon to open it
- Click the jersey icon and select Remove jersey to clear the current assignment
- Click Who did it? and select the correct player from the list
Once saved, the event will show as edited by you and will keep the player you selected.
Note: If the correct player isn't in the list, they likely don't have a jersey number assigned yet. Use Assign jersey numbers in Lineup at the bottom of the player list to link them, then return to the event to assign it.
What to avoid
- Don't skip setting jersey numbers in your Lineup, since that's what Veo AI uses to detect players automatically
FAQs
Yes. Player Stats in Analytics Studio pull directly from event and Lineup data, so reassigning a player updates their stats automatically.
Players only appear once they've been added to your Lineup. Use Assign jersey numbers in Lineup to add them.
No. If the issue is the team rather than the player, see How to fix Match Events assigned to the wrong team.
