Learn how to set up your team’s lineup and formation before each match recording. This feature helps you capture tactical setups, player positions, and match roles — including the Team Captain, Player of the Match, and Recent Form insights.

What is Lineup and Formation?
The Lineup and Formation feature lets you define your team’s starting eleven, substitutes, and tactical setup for every match. As a coach, this tool helps you analyze team structure, optimize strategy, and track player performance over time.
You can record both your starting lineup and the formation your team used at the beginning of a match.
How to access Lineup
To start, open the recording and go to the Lineup section. On desktop, you’ll find it in the side menu.
On mobile, it appears at the bottom of the screen.
How to choose a formation
Once you’ve opened the Lineup section, select your team’s preferred formation from the available options. This will define the base layout of player positions on the field.
Tip
Choose a formation that best represents your team’s starting setup; you can always review and adjust later if needed.
How to add players to the lineup
After selecting the formation, you can assign players to their respective positions.
- Click on a position on the field to add a player.
- Choose a player from the existing list, or use the option to invite a new member if they are not yet part of the team.
- Confirm their position and assign a jersey number.
You can also add substitutes to complete your lineup.
Once complete, your lineup will look similar to this:
Selecting a player in the lineup opens their Player Card, which shows their details, photo, and link to their Player Profile (if they’ve created one). You can also remove them from the lineup from here.
Viewing player Recent Form
If your Clubhouse has the Veo Analytics add-on, you’ll also see each player’s Recent Form in their Player Card.
This widget provides a quick overview of how a player has performed over their last three matches where they were included in the lineup.
The Recent Form includes four performance metrics:
- Goals: goals scored
- Assists: passes leading directly to a goal
- Attempts: total shot attempts (on and off target)
- Starts: times named in the starting lineup
The numbers shown are automatically calculated based on the player’s assigned events and their lineup position.
If you click on the Recent Form, you’ll be taken to the Player Stats in the Analytics Studio, where you can explore more detailed performance data.

The Recent Form widget is currently available for Football (Soccer) only.
Assigning Team Captain and Player of the Match
You can highlight key players by assigning two special roles: Team Captain and Player of the Match.
In your lineup, scroll below your formation, and you will see the options to select them.
The player assigned as Captain will show a captain’s badge on their lineup avatar.
The Player of the Match will display a star (⭐) on their lineup avatar.

No, this feature is currently available only for Football (Soccer).
Not yet — substitutions must be managed manually.
This isn’t possible yet, but we are exploring this feature for future updates.
You can select “Custom” from the formation list, but you can’t yet reposition the player dots manually. Note that choosing the custom option will disable lineup entry for that match. Improvements to this feature are planned for future releases.
