Get the most accurate player detection and match data by following a few simple best practices for recording, jerseys, and match setup.
What affects your results
Many factors influence how well Analytics can detect and track players. Some, like weather and lighting, are out of your control. Others, like jersey design and match setup, are easy to get right from the start.
Recording setup
Good recording conditions are the foundation for accurate results. Follow our recording best practices, especially proper lighting and tripod height.
Jersey design and numbers
Clear, well-designed jerseys make a big difference for player detection. Keep these points in mind:
- Choose jerseys with strong contrast between the number and the background. Avoid stripes, busy patterns, or very bright shirts, such as white on a sunny day, as they can reduce visibility or cause overexposure
- Use large, bold, solid-colored fonts for jersey numbers. Simple designs give the most reliable results
- Stick to numbers between 1 and 25 when possible. The system recognizes numbers from 0 to 99, but 1–25 typically performs better than 0 or 26–99
- Keep numbers fully visible. Long hair or anything else covering the number can reduce tracking accuracy
Important: Every player on a team must have a unique jersey number. Duplicate numbers on the same team can confuse the system and significantly affect your results
Team setup
Set up your roster, lineup, and formation before your next match so player stats are linked to the right names from the start.
Tip: See Setting up your roster and lineup for step-by-step instructions
Match setup
Correct sides and periods are essential for Analytics to appear and function properly.
Important: Follow How to confirm sides and periods to make sure your match is ready
