How to mention a teammate in a clip

Mentioning a teammate in the description of a new clip or in the comment of an existing one is a great way to draw attention to a specific moment as soon as it is created.

In a description:

  1. Open the recording you want to analyze in the Veo Editor
  2. Start creating a new clip
  3. Select a clip tag to make the description field available
  4. In the description field, type the @ symbol followed by the teammate's name

    Select Mention.jpg
  5. Select the correct person from the drop-down list
  6. Save the clip to notify the mentioned user by clicking on Create clip

Warning: If you mention someone who does not have access to the clip due to visibility settings, we will notify you. If you save without adjusting visibility, the person will not be notified and cannot see the mention

In a comment:

Use comments to start a conversation on an existing clip or to reply to feedback.

  1. Open an existing clip in the Veo Editor
  2. Go to the Comments section in the clip panel

    Click on Comments.jpg
  3. Type your message and use the @ symbol followed by the name of the teammate

  4. Select the person from the list and press Send to post

Note: Only people you explicitly @mentioned in a comment are notified. This includes the clip creator, who is not notified automatically unless tagged!

Mentions versus Tagging players

It is important to understand the difference between mentioning a user and tagging an "Involved player" in a clip.

  • Mentions (@): Used to notify a specific person and start a conversation.
It can be used regardless of the user’s role on the team (coach, player, other)
  • Tagging (Involved players): Used to mark which players are physically in the clip for filtering purposes
  • Mentioning a player in the description does not automatically add them as an Involved player
  • You can filter the clip list by Involved players, but you cannot currently filter by who was mentioned in a description

How you know you have been mentioned

When someone mentions you, stay informed through these channels:

  • An email notification with a direct link to the clip where you were mentioned in the description or comments

    Clip page.jpg

  • The dedicated Mentions page in your Clubhouse

Notes:

  • If you mention yourself, you will not receive an email notification, but you will still find the clip on your Mentions page
  • If you open a clip from an email link, you may be asked to log in to your account first
  • You can comment directly on the clip page
  • You can share a clip link directly from the Editor page, the clip page, or the Mentions page.
Others can only view it if their permissions and the clip's visibility allow access

What is the clip page

Each clip has its own clip page. The clip page shows the clip, its description, and all comments and mentions in one place. It's available to all roles.

  • How to open it: from the Mentions page, from a notification email, or from a shared clip link
  • How to share it: click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to a clip and select Copy Link, or share the link directly from the clip page
  • Who can see it: the clip page has the same visibility as the clip. Recipients can only open the link if they have access to the clip

Note: You can't make a clip page public on its own. To share a clip page with anyone, set the clip visibility to Public.

Drawings on the Mentions page and clip page

If a coach adds a drawing to a clip, for example arrows, shapes, or text to explain a tactic, the drawing is shown when you play the clip on the Mentions page or on the clip page. You don't need to open the Veo Editor to see it.

Tip: Coaches can add a drawing, save it as part of a clip, and mention the player in the description. The player gets a notification and sees the drawing as soon as they open the clip. Learn how to use the drawing tools

Note: Only drawings saved as part of a clip are shown. Drawings made without creating a clip are not saved.

Managing your mentions

You can track all conversations you are involved in through the dedicated Mentions page.

  1. Navigate to the @ Mentions page in your Clubhouse

  2. Review the list where you have been mentioned in a description, comment, or tagged as an involved player
  3. Comment directly from the Mentions page.
Make sure to mention other teammates with a @ if you want them to be notified of your comment
  4. Use the filters to organize the list by Team, who tagged/mentioned you, or the date when the tag/mention was created. You can also search for any specific text written in the description/comment

Tip: Encourage your Athletes to check their Mentions page regularly and reply to comments to ensure they have understood coaching feedback

Visibility settings

When a clip is created, you can choose who is allowed to view it.

Visibility options.png

  • Public: Visible to anyone with a link to the recording, including those outside the Club or Team
  • Restricted: Limits viewing to specific groups
  • Hidden: Visible only to you who created the clip

Under Restricted visibility, Athletes and other roles can choose:

  • Team Members
  • Players tagged in the clip
  • Coaches only
    • These clips are only visible to the creator and the Coaches in the Clubhouse
    • Coaches are not proactively notified when a Coaches-only clip is created
    • If you want to notify a specific Coach, you need to mention them in the description or the comments

Note: Ensure the people you want to see the clip, for example, a teammate from a different team, have access to the recording itself.

FAQs

Why can't I mention a specific teammate?

Ensure the person is a member of your Clubhouse and has accepted their team invitation. Clubhouse admins cannot be mentioned unless they are part of the same team as you. Also, confirm they have access to the clip itself.

Why is my Mentions page empty?

If you are part of multiple Clubhouses, ensure you have selected the correct one. Try refreshing the page. If a mention or the clip itself was deleted, or if the clip visibility changed to "Only me," it will no longer appear in your list.

I received an email notification but the link gives an error. Why?

This usually happens if your access permissions for the clip or the recording have changed since the mention was sent. Contact your Coach or Team Admin to verify your access to the recording.

Who can see the comments on a clip?

Comments are visible to anyone who has permission to view the clip. However, only those who are explicitly @mentioned will receive a direct notification.

What happens if I remove a mention or delete a comment?

If you remove a mention or delete the comment, it will no longer appear on that person's Mentions page. If the user has already received an email notification, the link may still work if they have recording access, but the mention itself will be gone from the platform.

Can I use mentions to create a private conversation?

Mentions notify people, but they do not control privacy. Privacy is managed through clip visibility and recording access. To ensure a conversation stays private, set the appropriate clip visibility settings (e.g., Coaches only).

Can I use mentions on mobile?

Yes. A Veo Clubhouse can be accessed via your mobile browser, and the experience is fully optimized for smartphone screens.

Can I see which mentions have been read or unread?

Currently, there is no read/unread status. New mentions always appear at the top of your list. Use the filters and search function to focus on the specific conversations you need to address.

Can I make a clip page public without making the clip public?

No. The clip page always has the same visibility as the clip. To make the clip page public, set the clip visibility to Public.

Can I share a private clip with someone outside my team?

No, not currently. People outside the team can only open a clip page if the clip is Public. The only other option is to download the clip and share the file elsewhere. Drawings are not included in downloaded clips.

Can I keep feedback clips private if the recording is public?

Yes. Keep the recording public and set the clip visibility to Restricted, for example to Team Members or to Players tagged in the clip. People who watch the recording won't see those clips unless they have access to them.

Can I see my coach's drawings on the Mentions page?

Yes. If the drawing was saved as part of the clip, you see it when you play the clip on the Mentions page or on the clip page. If you can't see a drawing, ask your coach to check that it was saved in the clip.
