Flying with your Veo Cam: battery rules and what to bring

New airline regulations introduced in April 2026 affect how you can travel with your Veo Cam. This article explains what you need to know and what to bring to avoid issues at the gate.

Why this matters

The Veo Cam 3 contains a lithium-ion battery, which is subject to international aviation regulations. Some airlines might actively check for documentation that confirms the battery is safe to fly with. Without it, you may be prevented from bringing your camera on board.

Note: Always check your airline's specific carry-on policy before you travel, as rules can vary by carrier and route

Is the Veo Cam 3 battery safe to fly with?

Yes. The Veo Cam 3 battery is fully certified and safe for air travel. Here's what you need to know:

  • The battery is certified to UN38.3 and IEC62133, the international safety standards used by airlines and aviation authorities worldwide
  • The battery capacity is under 100 Wh, which means it is permitted in carry-on luggage under standard airline rules
  • A Battery Management System (BMS) is built into the camera to ensure safe operation at all times

What documents to bring

To avoid any issues at check-in or the gate, download and print both documents below before your trip. You can find them at the end of the article.

Keep them with you in your carry-on bag so you can present them quickly if asked.

  • Battery safety statement from Awilco (Veo's battery supplier) — confirms the battery is certified to UN38.3 and IEC62133 and poses no transport danger
  • Veo Cam 3 certification document — confirms the battery is under 100 Wh and compliant with international regulations

Tips for a smooth journey

  • Pack the documents at the top of your bag so they're easy to find quickly
  • Arrive at the airport with extra time in case staff need to review your equipment
  • The Veo Cam should always travel in your carry-on — not in checked luggage
  • If you're travelling with a team, make sure the person carrying the Veo Cam also has the documents
