Coach Assist is an AI-powered analysis tool designed to help you break down match data instantly. With our Coach Assist Chat, you can ask specific tactical questions, generate training workflows, receive summarized insights from your recordings, and team management advice.
Requirements
- An active Veo Analytics add-on subscription
- Admin or Editor permissions
- A processed Football recording with accurate match events
- Access via a PC or tablet
What can Coach Assist do?
Coach Assist goes beyond simple stats. You can ask it to help with match-specific data or broader coaching challenges, such as:
- Match Analysis: "Analyze our last game against X and suggest 3 improvements."
- Workflow Creation: "I'm new to video analysis, give me a 30-minute workflow to follow."
- Soft Skills: "I need to bench a player without demoralizing them, help me find the right words."
- Strategy: Brainstorm game plans, player development, and team culture.
Note: Coach Assist is currently in a Beta testing phase and is included free with your Veo Analytics subscription. Please use the thumbs-up/down icons on responses to help our product team improve the experience.
How to access the Coach Assist Chat
- Log in to your Veo account
- Open the Analytics Studio or a specific recording
- Click the Coach Assist icon to open the chat interface
Note: Coach Assist Chat is currently only available on PC and tablets. It is not available on mobile devices at this time.
How to personalise Coach Assist
Set Coach Assist up to work for your specific coaching needs using the Personalisation settings.
- Once you have opened the Coach Assist chat, click on the three dots
- Click on Personalisation to open the settings page
- Choose your Coach Assist personality:
- Default: Balanced and professional tone
- Mentor: Supportive and encouraging guidance
- Just the Facts: Data-driven and direct responses
- Select your Coaching level: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced
- Enter any Additional instructions to further refine how the AI communicates with you
- Click Save to apply your preferences
Tip: Use the "Additional instructions" box to define your specific environment. For example, if you have limited equipment (only balls and bibs) or if you are a parent volunteer needing simple instructions to read during practice.
How to enable or disable Coach Assist
Club and Team Admins have the authority to manage AI feature visibility for their specific teams.
- Navigate to the Team Settings page
- Locate the Coach Assist toggle button
- Switch the button On or Off to show or hide the chat on videos assigned to that team
Note: If you cannot see the icon on a specific video, check that your permissions are set to Admin/Editor and that the team-level toggle is enabled.
Tips for better AI insights
The quality of the AI's suggestions depends on the quality of your match data. For the best results, ensure:
- Match periods and sides are correctly assigned
- Key events (goals, fouls, etc.) and the final score are accurate
- You have assigned the correct match tactics and added notes in the Match Journal
- You customised how Coach Assist responds to you
Tip: Coach Assist only knows what’s in your Veo plan. It can't discuss stats like xG (Expected Goals) if that data isn't captured by Veo Analytics.
Also, make sure your recording is fully processed first, or the AI won't have the data it needs to answer your questions.
FAQs
Veo sends match data as text files, including team names, events, possession %, and Journal entries. No video or audio content is ever sent to the AI provider. Data is kept for a maximum of 30 days and isn't used to train the AI models.
Yes. To keep the system stable, there are monthly and per-minute message limits. If you reach these, your requests may be temporarily restricted until the next period.
The AI provides a general reference based on algorithms. It isn't a substitute for your professional coaching judgment. Always cross-check the AI's suggestions against your actual footage before making critical team decisions.
Currently, Coach Assist is only available for football to ensure the AI understands the specific tactics and data needed to help you take your game a level up. We’re constantly working to improve Coach Assist and may add support for more sports in the future.
Coach Assist Alpha (previously visible in the Analytics panel) is no longer available on new or old videos. Thanks to all your feedback during the Alpha phase, the Chat version was made possible.
