This guide explains the most common causes of interrupted recordings with the Veo Go app and how to prevent them. In some cases, one of the two camera phones may stop recording during a match, even though the recording appears to continue, resulting in what we call a "black-eyed recording" (only one side visible, the other side blacked out). These interruptions are typically caused by iOS settings, device interactions, or system events.
Common causes of recording interruptions
Several factors can interfere with ongoing recordings. Below are the most frequent ones and how to prevent them:
Audio-related interruptions
Unexpected audio events can momentarily take over the system and stop the recording:
- Alarms or timers going off
- Accepting a phone call on iPhone
Even if these don’t seem video-related, they can interrupt the Veo Go app.
Tip: Disable alarms and timers before starting a recording.
Incoming phone calls
If a full-screen phone call is received while recording, it can stop the app — even if the call is not answered.
Recommendation: Turn on Do Not Disturb mode before starting your session.
AirPods or Bluetooth device interference
AirPods (or other Bluetooth audio devices) attempting to auto-connect can interrupt recording. This can happen with your own or nearby devices.
- A popup may appear when AirPods attempt to connect
- This automatically stops the recording without notice
Tip: Unpair or disable AirPods and other Bluetooth devices before recording.
Screen time limits
iOS Screen Time limits can automatically close the Veo Go app during a recording session.
- App limits configured in Screen Time settings will stop the app
Note: Disable app time limits or remove restrictions before recording.
Manual gesture interruptions
Using certain gestures during a recording can stop it unintentionally:
- Swiping down the Notification Center
- Swiping up to the Home Screen or App Switcher
- Tapping on notifications
- Locking the phone or quitting the app
Tip: Avoid interacting with the device while recording is in progress.
Use Guided Access to lock Veo Go
To prevent both system and accidental interruptions, use Guided Access, an iOS feature that locks the device to a single app.
- Open Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access
- Enable Guided Access and Accessibility Shortcut
- Open the Veo Go app
- Triple-click the Side/Home button
- Tap Start to lock the app
How to exit Guided Access
- Triple-click the Side/Home button
- Enter your passcode
- Guided Access will end
What to do if one phone stops recording
If one of your two recording devices stops mid-session, a warning screen will appear:
- Stop and restart the recording immediately
- Check both devices are actively recording before starting a new session
Final tips to ensure smooth recording
- Turn on Do Not Disturb mode
- Disable all alarms, timers, and app limits
- Unpair Bluetooth accessories (e.g., AirPods)
- Use Guided Access every time you record
- Avoid interacting with the screen during matches
Note: Focus Mode and Flight Mode do not fully protect against these types of interruptions.
