This article explains the purpose of the integrated G-force meter on the Veo Cam 3, how to interpret its status indicators, and what it means for your camera's warranty and claim eligibility.

What is the G-force meter?

The G-force meter is a built-in diagnostic sensor designed to measure the physical force and acceleration your camera experiences. It helps our team assess whether a non-functioning camera has suffered an impact or if the issue is related to an internal component malfunction.

This tool ensures a fair assessment of your device, helping us determine the next steps for repair or replacement based on our coverage policies.

How the G-force meter works

The sensor measures acceleration if the camera is dropped or struck. Our right of claim policy covers internal malfunctions but does not cover damage caused by drops from heights above 0.5 meters.

Interpreting the indicators

  • White G-force meter: The camera has not experienced a significant impact.

If the camera is not working, this is generally treated as a malfunction.

  • Triggered G-force meter (any color other than white): If the meter is no longer white, appearing instead in hues like red, purple, pink, or black, it indicates the camera was dropped from above 0.5 meters or suffered a strong impact.

In this state, the issue is categorized as physical damage and is not covered by our right of claim.

Visual explanation of the G-force meter:

G-force meter visual explanation

A force of 1G is equivalent to a head-on impact at 35 km/h against a surface. Due to the camera’s design, it may land or be struck at angles that leave no visible damage on the outer casing. However, even if the exterior appears intact, the internal components will have inevitably sustained damage when the meter is triggered.

Where is the G-force meter located?

You can find the G-force meter at the bottom of the Veo Cam 3, positioned just above the camera ID.

Status Examples

1. Stable Status (White)

A white G-force meter shows the camera is in its normal state. Issues here are likely software or hardware malfunctions.

2. Triggered Status (Non-White)

A G-force meter showing hues of red, purple, pink, or black indicates the camera has experienced a fall or hit, likely causing internal electronics damage.

Tip: Always ensure your tripod is weighted and secured, as our guidelines show (How to set up the Veo carbon fiber tripod), to prevent the G-force meter from being triggered by accidental falls.
