What is Possession location?
Veo’s AI-generated Possession location map automatically shows where teams had possession—through passing and dribbling—across different areas of the pitch. This visual breakdown helps you analyze how well your team maintains control of the ball in various zones.
Confirm sides and periods
Confirmed periods and sides of the pitch are essential for the Possession location map to work correctly. Learn how to do it here:

Where to find Possession location
- You’ll find the Possession location map in the Analytics section.
- From the Possession location menu, select the match period (or the full match) and team you want to analyze.
- Possession location is available on both desktop and mobile devices.
Common possession patterns
You should expect most of your team’s possession to occur in the defensive third as you build up from the back. Possession in the middle third usually means your players had time to take a few touches or connect passes to control the game’s tempo.
Possession with a purpose
Combine the Possession location map with possession % and the shots statistic to assess how effectively your team maintains and advances possession. This helps you understand whether your team is better at building play, keeping the ball, and creating goal-scoring opportunities than your opponent.
