Overview of Match stats
Match stats is a dynamic table that displays the event count for each team during a match. This includes both AI-generated events and any custom tags you create.
All highlights within your recording are collected and presented graphically to give you a clear performance overview.
Setup and configuration
To ensure the Match stats function correctly, you must first confirm the periods and sides of the pitch.
You can learn how to complete this step here: How to confirm sides and periods for Veo Analytics.
How stats are generated
Veo Stats are populated using two primary methods:
- AI Generation: Our technology automatically identifies key match events
- Manual Events: Data is pulled from the tags used in the events you create
Tip: When creating manual Events, always indicate which team the event is for. This ensures the event is attributed to the correct side in the stats table.
Customizing the table
-
Navigation: Locate the Match stats table inside the Analytics section
- Timeframes: Choose to view stats for the entire game or filter by specific periods
- Editing Rows: If yoy have Editor permissions, you can select or unselect specific stats to customize your view
Understanding possession and passing
The Match stats table includes detailed metrics to help you break your game down:
- Possession %: The percentage of total team possession (passing and dribbling)
-
Possession minutes: The total time a team had possession of the ball, shown in minutes
Note: Match stats are available for viewing on both desktop and mobile devices. You may notice that "possession minutes" appear low compared to the total match duration (e.g., a 90-minute game). This is normal in football. Actually, according to a FIFA article, "On average, a player is in possession of the ball for a total of one minute and 49 seconds over the course of 90 minutes." You can read the complete article here - Possession won: The number of times a team regained the ball during open play
- Passes completed: The total number of successful passes made by a team
